BeamSea Associates was founded in 2018 to create extended-range and turbid water LIDAR imaging and mapping payloads, specifically for small unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs). The technology is the culmination of decades of research and development in underwater laser and LIDAR optical system architectures led by the company's founders. BeamSea Associates possesses exclusive radiative transfer performance prediction and design software tools that they can use in partnership with clients to investigate various parameters and devise the best system configurations based on specific needs.

BeamSea Associates provides standard commercial products for small UUVs and partners with different collaborators to develop tailored LIDAR payloads. The BeamSea LIDARS offer customers an open interface to develop custom software either on their own or through joint efforts. Moreover, it can be supplied as an OEM unit with a software library for smooth integration with existing systems.
